VOICE RECOGNITION
Honestly, my kids have grown up seeing me converse with my beloved iPhone. The voice recognition feature is really cool! I can dictate large amounts of text & then go back in to clean up the small typos.
Disclaimer: The equivilent for PC's would be "Dragon Naturally Speaking". Several of my clients use this program (for example doctors needing medical transcription). I felt that it did not function as quickly as the iPhone technology, but it's still pretty popular. I cannot speak for those of the Android persuasion. I'm sure they have something comparable.
Anyway, this week, I discovered something new & absolutely amazing about my iPhone. I had already installed international capabilties & the Hebrew typing language. However, accidentally, I discovered that it can also do Hebrew voice recognition & then dictate into Hebrew text. This was amazing because, when I type in Hebrew, I peck away searching for the different letters. Now, I can rattle away, touch it up & file it away.
This can likewise be usable for any other non-English language speakers.
There is an old joke:
Q: "What do you call someone that speaks three languages?"
A: "Trilingual"
Q: "What do you call someone that speaks two languages?"
A: "Bilingual"
Q: "What do you call someone that speaks one language?"
A: "American"
Isn't technology grand?
