Knowing How To Travel

How To Travel On The Cheap

Lately, I've been doing lots of flying around the USA. So, like you, I do like to keep costs down & have flown Spirit Air a number of times. As many of you know, while their prices cost less of "the green stuff", they only allow you to bring a single personal item onboard without paying. (There's also less leg room and no peanuts, but the restrooms are still free.) I need a tiny suitcase for the absolute minimum amount of clothes. Yes, I can get by with a single pair of shoes, travel-size toiletries and wearing my sweater, but .... what to do about my laptop?

If I were to travel without bringing my laptop along, I would have seperation issues. I always bring it with me just in case a client has an issue & needs remote assistance! So, we finally came up with a solution -- and I'm discussing it here as a suggestion for clients who feel the need to travel with their laptops. (BTW, there's another potential problem to be nervous of. I had a client whose taxi driver threw his laptop bag into the cab & shattered the screen! And, there was another whose rent-a-car window was smashed & laptop stolen.)

There are many remote control softwares out there like AnyDesk or RemoteToPC. So, next time I travel, here's our gameplan: I hope to bring a tiny netbook with me, buried in my personal item suitcase. A netbook looks like a mini-laptop that someone shrunk in the dryer or microwave. I'll setup my laptop back in my office, always on, ready for me to remote in. And then, from wherever I'll be with complimentary WIFI, I can take control of my laptop & help you all. As the airlines become stingier on space & we rethink bringing our laptops on trips, remote access is the way to go!
