Windows 7: The End of an Era
The end is near! Lately, we've been receiving calls from concerned clients who have seen a warning message from Microsoft. The pop-up warns that Windows 7 -- like your milk in the fridge -- is about to expire. This is not a virus, but it's not what you think it is. Your computer is not going to stop working. It simply means that Microsoft will no longer be producing updates & fixes. When was the last time anyway that you called the real Microsoft when you had a problem with Windows 7?

On a practical level, I do not recomend updating an aged PC that was built for Windows 7 to Windows 10. Changing an operating system after several years of usage is not something to be done flipintly.
Your choices are:
- Keep using the computer as your were, and always make certain to back up your important files to protect yourself in case something goes south. Somewhere down the road, if you have a serious issue with your Windows 7 PC, that may be the straw that breaks the camel's back and a good excuse to buy a new computer. (Of course, you'll need it set up, updates installed and all your programs & files transferred.)
- You could be proactive and go out now and buy a new Windows 10 computer and initiate the migration on your terms.
Again, to summerize:
- The world is not coming to an end.
- Your computer will continue to boot up after January 14, 2020.
- Do not upgrade a computer older than 4 years to Windows 10 without a good excuse.
- Either keep using your computer with proper backups or buy a new computer.
